Scope

I was tasked to design explainer videos to support Amazon's Multimedia Device Support team using 2D motion graphics. These videos are posted to the Digital Services and Device Support page on Amazon.com. I was given 1 week to plan and design out an explainer video that was then translated to 4 other languages.

Process

I worked with cross-functional team members to gather requirements for this project. A narration script was already finalized and I worked closely with my producer to see early versions of the script so I could start storyboarding. After the storyboard was approved, I began designing out the rough draft of the explainer video. Our workflows did not have the finalized narration. During this stage, I exported the finalized script of the narration using a text-to-voice plugin to be used as a placeholder that I could design around. Once we received the finalized voice over, I then replaced the robotic text-to-voice placeholder with the final voice over and tweaked the animation to match the new cadence of the voice over. In addition, I was tasked to edit the raw audio using Adobe Audition to make the Explainer video more coherent. Once the final video was approved in english, I was then tasked to export the same video using the finalized voice overs of 4 international languages. This raised its own challenges as I had to adjust animations to international words that may be longer or shorter in pacing. In addition, I also had to localize screens to reflect the international languages. Once that was completed, it was posted externally on Amazon.com support pages.
